Those looking for the SL600 may be disappointed to learn that this unit was phased out of the Australian new car market in 2017. At the time, this 6.0-litre roadster was retailing for more than $326,000 before on-road costs. The SL500 is now the remaining model in the SL-Class line-up, with the 4.7-litre version of this adored unit retailing for $292,500 plus on-road costs such as stamp duty, registration, dealer delivery fees and luxury car tax.
We wish we could put a definitive number on this and be certain, however, that would be no easy feat. It's widely acknowledged that just over 11,000 units of the SL600 were produced in the ten years leading up to 2001, however, it's less clear what followed after that. Nonetheless, what we can say, and particularly due to the fact that a number of these units may have been involved in write-offs, the SL600 is among the more rare production cars that will almost certainly one day become a classic collectable.
